INTRO TO YOUR NEW OUTBOUND STRATEGY
Hey there! Before we dive into strategy talk, let's talk about finding the perfect customers for your business. It's like finding the right puzzle piece that fits just right. This special piece is called your Ideal Customer Profile, or ICP for short. If you're not sure who your ICP is, no worries! You can reply to this email saying ICP and we will reach out shortly. Plus, if you qualify, you can get a free coaching session with Michael Cronin, AI Top Ranks very own marketing advisor. Cool, right?
Now, once you know who your perfect customers are, it's time to use all the tools you have to reach them. Ideally, you'd have a super cool tool to make this easy, but if not, don't worry. We can still make it work, but it might take a bit more effort.
Step One: Define Your Initial Target Market - Imagine you're throwing darts at a target. It's better to focus on hitting one bullseye perfectly than to try hitting a bunch of different ones at once. You should select a market that your tool can really help and where it will make the biggest difference. For example, let's say your tool is like a super smart personal assistant. It could help lots of different people, but maybe it's extra helpful for lawyers.
Step Two: Write Your Message - Now that you know who you're talking to, it's time to craft the perfect message (You will find MUCH more success by crafting your message to your ICP so, please dial in your ICP before moving on to this step). Think of it like writing a letter to your best friend. You want to:
Say who you are and who they are (so they know you've done your homework)
Talk about a problem they have
Mention how your tool can help
Invite them to a meeting where you can show off your tool and ask for their support
Keep your message short and sweet. Most people only read the first few lines of an email, so make those count!
Step Three: Make Your Contact List - Okay, so now you need to find the right people to send your message to. If you don't have a fancy tool to help, you can use Google, LinkedIn, and other free tools to find companies that fit your target market. Once you've found them, find the people who work there and get ready to reach out.
Step Four: Keep Track and Follow Up - It's like keeping score in a game. You want to know who you've talked to and what they said. You can use a simple tool like Google Sheets to keep track. Make sure to note:
Company name
Contact name
Email
Phone number
LinkedIn profile
Your initial message
When you sent it
How you followed up
Whether they said yes, maybe, or no
You can even color-code it to make it easier to see who's interested and who's not.
Step Five: Get Better - Now that you've sent some messages and talked to some people, it's time to learn from it. Look at which messages got responses and which ones didn't. Figure out what worked and what didn't, and then try new things to make it even better. It's like practicing basketball - the more you do it, the better you get!
And that's it! With these steps, you'll be an outbound strategy pro in no time. Good luck!
